books, books, books, and more books

Finished

The strong language is disappointing,  I don't recommend listening to it. However, reading it might help one gloss over the swearing a bit easier. The story is well done. The characters well developed. It's emotional depth really quite beautiful, but due to the language, I won't be continuing the series.

Finished
Better than the first.

Finished
Just as good as the second.

Finished

My favorite in the Gallagher Girl Series, so far. I'm looking forward to the 5th.

Most of my kitchen cabinets are in. I say most because there was a measurement error and some had to be sent back, different sizes ordered. Two had to be ordered that without put an open oven door directly in front of the sink.  This has not been a painless process. The sink moved so the faucet will not be centered under the sink, but off to the right.

Lack of symmetry has been  known to drive me crazy.

I plan to balance the visual with something of beauty and similar height.

Today the formica goes down. The sink hole will be cut and Russ wil install the sink. The wash tub we've had the last month, and the nothingness we've had the last few days, will become a memory of the past.

Russ began laying the flooring Monday night. It looks great, but doesn't go down nearly as nicely as our previous floor. Both the old and the new are made by Armstrong. The new, American Duet - Hartford Maple, has wide and narrow planks. I love the look, but hooking the narrow boards to the wide has proved challenging after a call to Rebecca at Armstrong, who spoke with Joe (head of laminate), it seems that the locking system on the two different widths don't match up. We're going to have to have Columbia River Interiors reorder the wides.

ARGH!

The floor could be another 3-4 weeks out now.

I'm so grateful Russ is doing the work, he's become quite the Mr. Fix-It over the last 19 years. I can't believe it's been that long, seems like yesterday.

Today I should be able to begin loading up the cabinets that we do have in place. The kids are so excited to use silverware and glasses again. I can't wait to make a real meal! Jerry's here (the counter guy) gotta go!

The sanders going, dust is flying everywhere. The walls, the floor, the ceiling, talk about the work that will go into the deep cleaning. Which brings me to what I'll be listening to while I put our house back together.

CLOCKWORK ANGEL by Cassandra Clare. Unless, of course, CITY OF ASHES by Cassandra Clare shows up soon in my mailbox. I've been waiting, and waiting, and waiting.
