patience

Finished

I read it in less than a day, cause I couldn't put it down. I reread the end four times, yes, four. Okay, maybe five...I lost count.

Finished

Jaxsen finished before I even had the chance to start. He is disappointed that he now has to wait another year before he gets 'the rest of the story'. I must admit this feeling doesn't go away with age. I've started calendaring in the release dates of books I'm waiting for. I even set my ipad up to alert me the day before.

In the Mail

According to my library account CITY OF ASHES should be arriving in my mailbox today. Ohhhh I am giddy with JOY! Jax will be thrilled as well. I realize not all 11 year old boys read this series, but he really loved CITY OF BONES. I guess they've been trying to get the boy to check out library books at school. He told the librarian that he's already reading several series.

Jaxsen's Reading [at school]

The HALO series, the MAXIMUM RIDE series, THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS series, and THE INFERNAL DEVICES series. His librarian asked him to write a list of what he was reading, maybe the principal would buy some of the books for their library. So I started writing them down.

"Mom, make sure to add THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS."
"Ummm, Jax I'm not sure that series is appropriate for elementary age children. I mean I know you're reading them, but...well you know how Clary is in love with..."
"Her brother." He said grinning so big I had to try very hard not to laugh.
"Yeeesss, well I'm hoping somehow that's not quite the whole truth..."
"I know, I know, " he laughed. "They're probably not related...I hope."
"Me too!"

Then I added HEIST SOCIETY, which he really enjoyed and the GALLAGHER GIRLS series.

"Mom, why are you putting the GALLAGHER GIRLS on my list. I don't want to hand that to the librarian, those are girl books."
"Because girls use the library too and they might enjoy them."
"Well I don't want them on my list."
"Well there's girls in the other books you read."
"Ya, but there's lots of boys too."
"I think you'll be okay."
"Fine," he sighed.
"You know Jax, you should give them a try, you might like them."
"That's okay."

Russ is kicking butt on the house. Reinstalling molding and trim. I've been painting walls and washing all the dust away. I did stop for a little furniture rearranging in the living room. My children are tired of eating cold cereal and snacks. The other day Logan said, "Hey mom, remember when you use to read The Pioneer Woman's blog?"
"Ya"
"Well I think you should start doing that again," he said with a grin.
"Really?"
"Ya"
"Well, you're in luck, I was just thinking next week I might have a minute to do that very thing."

It is pouring out, pourrr-ing! The sky is grey in the west and blue in the east, and yet it's not particularly dark because the sun is out. I have an hour before I need to pick up Jaxsen.
